BOBBY BANERJEE
Director, Senior Architectural Designer (M. Arch, B. Arch.)
With over 23 years of experience shaping Auckland’s built environment, Bobby (Shubhendu) Banerjee is the Director and driving force behind Mercury Architecture. He specialises in offering innovative architectural design solutions that aid property investors and developers as they navigate the journey from property acquisition and design through both the consenting and construction phases, all while focusing on creating practical and profitable outcomes.
His extensive experience includes bespoke homes, residential alterations, multi-unit and terrace housing, residential developments, and commercial projects. Additionally, Bobby established the Mercury Alliance, a network of specialist consultants collaborating to simplify the development and consenting process.
Today, Bobby leads a team of 15 across New Zealand and India, fostering a culture of mentorship, collaboration, and innovation. He is a professional member of Architectural Designers New Zealand (ADNZ) and serves as a regional executive for the ADNZ Auckland Branch.
Beyond architecture, Bobby is passionate about education and community engagement, regularly sharing his knowledge through property development seminars and public speaking.
SANTOSH SATPATHY
Director, Strategic Planning & Management (B.Arch, GDIP.PM)
Santosh is a highly skilled architect with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Mumbai University and a Construction Management Diploma from Unitec, Auckland. He is passionate about high-end architectural design solutions, community engagement, and sustainability. Santosh has a diverse portfolio of residential and multi-residential projects in New Zealand and India, which also includes residential alterations. He has strong relationships with clients, consultants, and colleagues and holds licenses from the Council of Architecture India.
In addition to his role at Mercury Architects India, he is also a Director in Strategic Planning and Management at Mercury Architecture in Auckland, New Zealand. He has extensive experience in residential, commercial projects, and industrial designs, as well as interior designs.
In his free time, Santosh enjoys playing badminton and traveling to new destinations for educational speaking opportunities.
KARUNYA MOHAN
Practice Manager (B.Arch.)
Karunya is a dependable and driven member of the Mercury Architecture team, recognized for her ability to deeply understand project requirements and deliver high-quality architectural design solutions. Her design approach is grounded in research, which she views as essential to creating impactful architecture, whether for commercial projects or residential alterations.
A firm believer in the power of clear communication, Karunya approaches every project as an opportunity to uncover thoughtful solutions through collaboration. She is highly proficient in a wide range of architectural software, utilizing technology to enhance precision and creativity in her work.
Her calm and composed presence instills confidence, making her a reliable partner for clients and colleagues alike, ensuring that every project is seen through with focus and care.
RUCHA SASWADE
Marketing Director (Associate)
Rucha oversees the firm’s portfolios across India and New Zealand, playing a key role in shaping the studio’s international presence through innovative architectural design solutions. Based in Mercury Architects’ Navi Mumbai office, she works closely with the wider team across both regions, focusing on both commercial projects and residential alterations.
Her journey across diverse professional roles has given her a distinctive creative edge, allowing her to approach architecture and design with a layered, multidisciplinary perspective. This breadth of experience informs her leadership of the marketing department, where she operates with both clarity and distinction.
In addition to her marketing responsibilities, she manages office operations and HR, ensuring the studio runs smoothly and collaboratively. Since joining Mercury Architects, she has become an integral part of its growth and creative identity.
