BOBBY BANERJEE
Director, Senior Architectural Designer (M. Arch, B. Arch.)
With over 23 years of experience shaping Auckland’s built environment, Bobby (Shubhendu) Banerjee is the Director and driving force behind Mercury Architecture. He specialises in helping property investors and developers navigate the journey from property acquisition and design through consenting and construction, with a focus on creating practical and profitable outcomes.
His experience spans bespoke homes, multi-unit and terrace housing, residential developments, alterations and additions, and commercial projects. Bobby also established the Mercury Alliance, a network of specialist consultants working collaboratively to simplify the development and consenting process.
Today, Bobby leads a team of 15 across New Zealand and India, fostering a culture of mentorship, collaboration and innovation. He is a professional member of Architectural Designers New Zealand (ADNZ) and serves as a regional executive for the ADNZ Auckland Branch.
Beyond architecture, Bobby is passionate about education and community engagement, regularly sharing his knowledge through property development seminars and public speaking.
SANTOSH SATPATHY
Director,
Strategic Planning & Management (B.Arch, GDIP.PM)
Santosh, is a highly skilled architect with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Mumbai University and a Construction Management Diploma from Unitec, Auckland. He is passionate about high-end design, community engagement, and sustainability. Santosh has a diverse portfolio of residential and multi-residential projects in New Zealand and India. He has strong relationships with clients, consultants, and colleagues, and holds licenses from the Council of Architecture India.
In addition to his role at Mercury Architects India, he is also a Director in Strategic Planning and Management at Mercury Architecture Auckland, New Zealand. He has experience in residential, commercial, and industrial designs, as well as interior designs.
In his free time, Santosh enjoys playing badminton and traveling to new destinations for educational speaking opportunities.
KARUNYA MOHAN
Architectural Designer (B.Arch.)
Karunya is a dependable and driven member of the Mercury Architects team, known for her ability to deeply understand project requirements and deliver high-quality architectural solutions. Her design approach is grounded in research, which she sees as key to creating impactful architecture.
A firm believer in the power of clear communication, Karunya approaches every project as an opportunity to uncover thoughtful solutions through collaboration. She is highly proficient in a wide range of architectural software, using technology to enhance precision and creativity in her work.
Her calm and composed presence instills confidence, making her someone both clients and colleagues can rely on to see a project through with focus and care.
RUCHA SASWADE
Marketing Director (Associate)
Rucha oversees the firm’s portfolios across India and New Zealand, playing a key role in shaping the studio’s international presence. Based in Mercury Architects’ Navi Mumbai office, she works closely with the wider team across both regions.
Her journey across diverse professional roles has given her a distinctive creative edge, allowing her to approach architecture and design with a layered, multidisciplinary perspective. This breadth of experience informs her leadership of the marketing department, where she operates with both clarity and distinction.
In addition to her marketing role, she also oversees office management and HR, ensuring the studio runs smoothly and collaboratively. Since joining Mercury Architects, she has become an integral part of its growth and creative identity.
